Oh My God...I dont want to be an old maid!Help!?

I'm 28 years old this coming June. As fas as I know I did my best but maybe I'm just not lucky in terms of love. I can't even go out for a date becoz I'm a homebody person and all of my friends too. I don't have male friends. I don't even interested on text mates and phone pal. Do you think I'm on the line to be an old maid??

Oh My God...I dont want to be an old maid!Help!?
Well this differs from how you explained yourself on your homepage. On it you state you like dancing, going to the beach etc. So I am confused if you are a homebody or a person who loves to take part in fun activities. But the sad fact is that if you do not go out and show the world a confident young woman then you may indeed end up an old maid or at least a lonely person. But if you are able to take part in fun activities then you should not have a hard time finding someone who will be interested in you.
Reply:seems like it hon... if you don't want to go out, go online but sometimes it's too risky... well, anyway... the choices we made in our life is up to us... you know what to do, maybe you didn't get lucky in love before but who knows what comes next right?
Reply:Are you sure you don't want to be? You said yourself you don't go anywhere. Something worthwhile requires a little effort. The men are out there but you won't find them sitting home Hon, you have to go find them. I'm talking about good men too, not just "guys".
Reply:That term doesn't even exist anymore I don't think. At least you are waiting and not dating everyone and end up with the wrong person. You will find a man if you want one and you don't have to hurry. That's all your decision. I got married at 25 and divorced at 30 and I don't want to get married any time soon. I'd rather be called an "Old Maid" than to have to deal with all the problems of marrying the wrong person brings.
Reply:What is wrong with being alone. Sounds like you have a nice life. Not everybody is ment to be married.
Reply:Please send sms or text to this number +639286282718 and want to know you! Hope to know you well? Am open!
Reply:Not at all, In fact I think you'll find what your looking for when you least expect it. However, if you see something you like don't waste anytime...just go for it. Introduce yourself and don't be shy. If you don't feel like doing that then go do something fun for yourself. Either way I'm sure you'll be just fine. Good luck!
Reply:No there are people that get married in their 30's and 40's. People these days get married at later ages. A lot of people dont get married as young as they used to I think its because when young people get married they realize that its a big mistake to get married so young. Just pray for God to send you that guy.
Reply:No, not at all. I'm sure you're lovely and kind--hang in there!
Reply:Most women born in June are late bloomers.
Reply:If those things don't interest you, that's fine. There's no rule that says you ever have to date or marry if you don't desire to do so. Live your life for you...make yourself happy...don't worry what other people do or what society may expect...it's YOU that you need to be concerned with...

Make your Life the best it can be!
Reply:my sister's 33 and single, never been married, with know children. she does date, but she just hasn't found that certain guy. so, know, i don't think that you are an old maid. and your not old, so don't let people tell you that. remember that when you marry, its forever. so i'm diffinetly trying not to rush that. LOL
Reply:You sound like an independent gal that has no issues with being by herself. Good for you!! I wouldn't classify anyone at the age of 28 as an 'old maid', but if it turns out to be true there are worst fates. If you were a guy, you'd receive accolades for being a wise 'ole bachelor. It could be that no one interests you at this point in time. And in view of your life experience, you're probably not seen as a gullible easy mark that will believe all the b.s. lines guys sometimes play girls with. You definitely aren't co-dependent b/c you aren't waiting for someone else to act in order for you to live your life. If you cross paths with an interesting guy that is right for you, just have faith you'll recognize him for what he is. There's no rush and there's so many other ways to spend your time. Keep focusing on yourself and don't worry so much about a future mate. You sound like quite a gal! Good Luck

Reply:They never become an old maid. Thats just an old wise tell
Reply:I'd say when you are 50 and own at least 2 cats.
Reply:well lets play
Reply:Dude, this is 2006. Who uses the term "old maid". Besides, a 38 year old woman that never been married is called an "independant woman."
Reply:65, keep looking, you're not old yet.
Reply:Well back in the days, an old maid being older than prime marrying age, would still be a virgin. If you are not a virgin, then I don't think there should be any concern about the subject. Just means that you have certain standards in men that have not been met yet.

Good luck, and just remember, don't be happy for just the moment, be happy for a lifetime.
Reply:Naw, 38 is still fine, 45 is pretty much where you should give it up.
Reply:now a daya its probably like 65 or something...no, really 38 is still young.
Reply:I'd call a 38 y.o. woman who is unmarried SMART!
Reply:No, by far, have yourself a great time and consider having a make over to pick your spirits up! Beleive in yourself...and have a blast making new friendships. A great sense of humour is always welcome anywhere! Smile...your home awaits great get togethers and new friendship/s await you to show up at great parties! Don't put it off...you're so worth it! Go shopping girl...life is great! It isn't time to put those heals away, it's time to take them out! Lol!
Reply:i would think 40 so u still got 2 yr left
Reply:Use to be seventeen.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Couples are older now than what they used to be , just a few years ago, when getting married. You're fine.

I had a cousin marry a few years back for the first time %26amp; he was sixty.
Reply:at that age you are past the safe age to have children...

being married.. never to old
Reply:Start dating gurl! The 30's is the best time of a woman's life! ;)
Reply:No we don't live in the 1700 hundreds anymore.
Reply:yes, would have, but now there's a lot more. I believe yes. A career is one, and it's best to wait until ur 28, but that was 10 years ago. Unless u have a long term serious relationship and get married soon.
Reply:I don't even believe in the word "old maid". I am 36 years old, never been married, and don't have any children. So what? I'm still slim, no baby gut, and hot!!!!
Reply:Her n me both are but I look 22
Reply:50
Reply:only if she has not perfected the fine art of sucking a mans cock dry. Then she must learn to clean or become a nun.
Reply:I have to be honest with you here and not try to spare your feelings but I believe that there is a very slim chance you will find true love at that age, it could happen , there could be that one guy out there that has zero experience in the matter of love that hasn't been burned more than half dozen times that still believes in that notion of love, but most guys at that age have already formed an intense conclusion as to where to invest their feelings and finding a guy at that age will be about as tough as winning the lottery, some people do win the lottery so it is still possible, but you better get to placing some ads , time is surely running out.
Reply:maid/do you do windows, could use your help, dishes need to be done
Reply:no but i would try to hook it up
Reply:No you're not an old maid. That's a stupid term from a long time ago. By the way, why isn't there a stupid term from a long time ago for a man that never married??
Reply:no shes smart
Reply:I'm thinking about 30.
Reply:depends, why were you never married? do you clean house?

Help finding the opera "The old maid and the thief?" music?

today i was cast to play Laetitia in the opera "the old maid and the thief," for next school year. this is my first time to be a soloist in an opera, so i would really like to get a jump start on learning the music over the summer.

so the question is, is there anywhere online that i can listen to the songs from this opera? and/or see the lyrics?

Help finding the opera "The old maid and the thief?" music?
Congrats! I just finished performing "Steal Me Sweet Thief" (Sometimes also known as "What a Curse for a Woman)" I feel that is SUCH a beautiful song....Go to Itunes and look for "What a Curse for a woman" but Dawn Upshaw. I think you will love her version of "Steal Me Sweet Thief"

Good luck to you, and BTW,,,what college are you currently attending?
Reply:You can also try your school library (assuming you're in university or college). Ask the librarians if they have inter-university sharing also. You could borrow it from another school that way. The other option would be to schmooze an "older" voice teacher (find a soprano - what about your own teacher?) and get her copy.

But really don't sweat it, the music is pretty easy if you have an ear for contemporary music.

I'm going to assume you've Googled it though? Wow, originally written for radio. The things you learn.

Unfortunately, I never did the whole show or you could have mine but I've only old copies. Steal me, oh steal me sweet thief, for time's flight is stealing my youth... Such great music. Break a leg!!

PS - Someone's selling the score on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/The-Old-Maid-and-the...
Reply:There is one of the songs here in downloads.com music section, at the bottom,

You can find some online for sale in music shopping places and maybe even in yahoo music,

here is the one I found for you. I listened to a bit, nice.

Reply:There are a lot of places to buy opera scores on line. (Even obscure ones). I would check e-bay or Amazon (used) first because scores tend to be really expensive and you can typically find someone who has purchased it who will never use it again. Just make sure that you erase all of there markings before you start rehearsing so that you can make your own and not get confused. Congrats on the part and break a leg!

How to deal with being an "old maid" and all the emotional instabilities?

I'm in my late 30's, never had a boyfriend, always wanted one, but no one was ever interested in me. I've been very depressed. I'm not pretty and look at least 20 years older than my age. Because I'm an old maid, reaching mid life crises, I get upset very very easily. I have no one to talk to about my problem. Other than seeing a therapist, any home treatment for this problem?

How to deal with being an "old maid" and all the emotional instabilities?
Can someone advise you on how you are dressing, your makeup and hair? (I one time did this for myself and it was worth it) That could be a first step if you are really out of touch with what looks okay on you. Then perhaps see someone to talk about how you interact with others. How about going out with your friend as a friend? Don't worry about the dating issue, just see how it is to be with a friend. Lots of luck.
Reply:I'm past 40 and have no children. Even if I had a child at this late date, I would be very old by the time he/she grew up. So, I feel as if I have missed out on something too.

The first thing I suggest doing is praying to GOD for help and comfort. Getting counseling for emotional stress doesn't hurt either. But, I believe calling on GOD should come first.

In spite of the age issue, I have decided I still want to go ahead and marry.
Reply:I would recommend finding your satisfation and joy in someOne other than a husband, for now. I know that very ugly women get married all the time. Getting married is much more than looks. (you are probably being very hard on yourself, and you are not as "ugly" as you think). I would recommend a book called "A Life of Joy" from www.katiehoffman.org. Men love happy, nice women. Once you become a joyful woman who is nice and kind, you will become much more attractive to me. I would also recommend joining a good women's Bible study at a church. Even though it is not the same as being married, having friends that you meet with weekly will help with the lonliness. I do hope that these things are able to help you.
Reply:Try being happy with who you are. There are a lot of married people who are incredibly unhappy because they got married for all of the wrong reasons. Being single, you are free to live however you want, move wherever you want without taking anyone else into consideration. You are free! I hate labels. Get rid of that "old maid" label. Not everyone is pretty. It's what's on the inside that matters. There are a lot of evil-minded beautiful people and a lot of good-hearted not-so-beautiful people are out there. If you look older than you are, try getting a makeover. Try joining a book club or church group. You may meet a boyfriend. Good luck to you.
Reply:I think it's important to remember that the grass is always greener on the other side. By being single and unattached, you have an incredible gift.....the gift of total freedom. You can do whatever you want, travel wherever you want to, go back to school and study something, etc......your life is your own and no one else's. Do you have any idea how many married people wish they had your level of freedom?

So, instead of thinking of yourself as an old maid....What about who you are as a person? What are your interests? What kind of life would you be happy with (whether or not that includes a significant other)? Have you considered taking classes, volunteering, etc.?

If you are depressed, I strongly recommend seeing a therapist or counselor. Depression is not something people should attempt to deal with on their own. It makes you feel more isolated, and the way to fight that isolation is to try to make a connection to someone (or a group of people).

Also, you should know that depression tends to make people look older. When I was 19 or so, I was in a very depressed stage in my life.....and people would often guess that I was in my thirties. Years later, after redirecting my life, I'm now 33 years old.....and people usually guess I'm 6 to 8 years younger than I am. Instead of focusing on your appearance, if you focus instead on the internal stuff, I'm sure you could reverse that part of it, too.

By the way, I'm also single.....I have no children.......and I love every minute of my life. I've seen so many couples (with and without children) end up divorced....life is never perfect, but it is what we make of it.

Best wishes for you.......
Reply:I think you would be surprised how many people out there think the same. I'm nearly forty and feel like I'm about seventy in the body. Been too busy doing the good things in life and pushing weights past the roof and suddenly thought, **** I have the rest of my life left and I haven't even had kids or sorted out my life like others, feel like Ive missed out on something. Xmas time seeing all the grand children and children to others having fun does it to me. I just see it as the way it is, that's the walk I'm on, only I can change that I guess and hope that Xmas 2009 is better. I think we are in that boat because many others are to and we meet up in the end and have the same similarities as each other. You just have to have that little hope that things will get better, and you are as good as anybody else in this world and what ever you feel, there is worse out there. What we feel on the inside will draw on the outside. You cant be that bad, send me a pick and Ill tell you the truth, robbotait@xtra.co.nz

It is ok to remain old maid?

i am now old maid i guess,im not married yet!im now 30yrs old.the reason why im not married is becuase of my past expereinced and i am afraid to all guys..

It is ok to remain old maid?
Seems to me the only person it should matter to is you. So, what do you think? IS it ok to be an old maid as you call it?

Personally, I call it just being single, which isn't always a bad thing.

Interesting that you are asking this question yet gave yourself the handle "seductive77" though.
Reply:Old maid is an awfully old term that describes women who didn't have a whole lot of choices. With the divorce rate as high as it is you bet it is ok.
Reply:No such thing as an old maid.

Better to be never married vs married, with kids, divorced, married, more kids, divorced!!

What's the big success of marriage? Oh, yeah, there isn't a big success with marriage.

So I guess it would be a no.
Reply:at 30 you are not considered to be an old maid these days. if you are happy being single then by all means stay that way, if not, then perhaps its time to speak with a professional who would help you overcome these fears.
Reply:I'll be 30 this year and I really hope that I find someone. I dont want to be an old maid and I have also had bad past experiences with guys too whatever you do. Dont settle
Reply:Is there such a thing as an 'old maid' anymore? I'm 43, and single by design. I don't ever give a thought as to what perception my single status represents to others. My guess, though, is that many of our married friends wish they were living our lives. Be happy with where you are in your life right now, but don't discount the idea that you may feel differently later. Try to stay open to the idea that you always have options and the luxury of making your own decisions. Good luck. Have fun.
Reply:Yeah, definitely!! Bring your children up the same way.

As Cate Blanched, the actress said today. You have to be mad to get married and she's happily married with 2 children.

"Getting married is insanity," she said.
Reply:Out of my circle of friends, there are two old maids, one divorcee who is staying that way, one widow, and one who thought she would be alone, and married in her early 40's.

In my day, I was an old maid at 21. In yours, not even close. Most people wait to get married, these days. .

Let me tell you an old maid story. My Grandmother was a very talented quilter, and crocheter, and those were the presents the the grandkids got for their marriage, a afgan and a quilt. My cousin, who is about 3 years older than me, negotiated with Grandmother to get a quilt on her 25th birthday, even if she did not marry. She got the quilt, and then married. I listened to this, bided my time, and at an oportune moment, said Grandma, do I get the same deal? Yes, she said, with a sigh, she knew it was coming. And I got the quilt, and the afgan

Of all my cousins and their kids, I'm the only unmarried one. All are married at least once.

Don't let people get to you, I love my single life, I tell people I am always alone, but never lonely. It beats the alternative, some abusive man. Another cousin's husband, now ex, burned down their house!.

Chill, there are good men out there, they are rare, but out there. If you do not ever marry, it is your business, it is very common. there are more women in the USA than men, somebody is bound to do without! LOL.
Reply:There is worse things in life than not being married.
Reply:you're 30 honey not 75, so technically you're not an old maid...you're still very young, and if you're happy being single then that's one thing but if you want to one day get married don't let pass experiences be the reason why you keep yourself froom the dating scene...it''s the risk you take, some guys are nice while others are jerks. Set some standards for yourself and don't waste time on the losers when they show you the red flags in the beginning....good luck
Reply:You are not an old maid. You are a single woman.

Eventually you may find a guy who understands what you've been through.

I was afraid of guys till I met my husband.

Can you find for my old friend an old maid, 65 years old, who is still a virgin?

My friend Joe is very shy and don't know to court a girl and he is asking help to find an old maid for him, 65 years old, and still a virgin.

Can you find for my old friend an old maid, 65 years old, who is still a virgin?
you're joking, right?

What would people think of a future old maid?

what would you think of a girl 19 never been kissed or had a boyfriend,(its sad I know) and even if she doesn’t say it predicts she will be a future old maid?

I feel a little left out because the few people I can find to hang out with here at college, all have boyfriends, they always want to be alone, its annoying. I sort of want a boyfriend, but I dont see that happening, because I have EXTREEME self confidence issues, and I dont think anyone would EVER want to be STUCK dealing with a girl who's never even kissed.

P.S.(My predictions about myself, relationships with other people and my predictions about my friends usually come true even if for my friends sake I dont say them.

What would people think of a future old maid?
The card in the center represents the present status or challenge of the relationship. 10 Mazze (Oppression), when reversed: Refusing to take on burdens greater than you can carry. Noble leadership restrained from transforming into tyranny. Bearing the weight of ultimate responsibility without being crushed. Through careful conservation of their fuel, the engines of creation continue onward.
