Maid vs Matron of honor?

Dumb question: If my maid of honor is married, is she called a matron of honor? It seems weird to call her that, since she's under 25 years old.

Maid vs Matron of honor?
Technically yes, but I was a "Matron of Honor" last summer and I chose to be called a Maid because I hate the word Matron (like I am 60 and should be running around in a blue chiffon mumu). Let that be your MOH's decision, she may like the Matron because it says "I'm Married", or she may like the Maid for the reason that shes still young. Either is appropriate, my friends wedding coordinator took no issue with the change of title for me, she said alot of times girls think the same way and forego the Matron word.

Best of luck
Reply:a maid is an unmarried woman, no matter how old she is.
Reply:Yes I had a Matron Of Honor and she was also under 25, but that's what they're called.
Reply:Yes, a Matron of Honour is a married woman. Not strange at all, since a 'matron' denotes a mature woman, which she is since she's married!
Reply:She is married then she is a Matron. Maid means that she is unmarried. Age has nothing to do with it.
Reply:Yes, she would be called a Matron of Honor.
Reply:Matron is if they are married...so yes you would call her your matron of honor.
Reply:yes matron of honor.
Reply:She could be 16; if she is married, she's a "matron". a "maid" is an unmarried woman. A divorced woman is also a "matron".
Reply:yes she would be your matron of honor
Reply:Normally yes, but you can do as you wish. It's your day!
Reply:She's married, she's a matron. She could be a maid if she were single and 40, or a matron if she were 16 and married...age does not matter.
Reply:Not a dumb question!

Technically, if she's married she would be called the Matron of Honor because "maid" implies not being married.

I don't think now it really makes too much difference which term you use though. The Wedding police aren't going to beat you with dry paper towels for it or anything. =)
Reply:Matron has nothing to do with age, but everything to do with marital status.
Reply:Yes, is your matron of honor.
