Would it be dumb to not have a maid of honor?

Lately the person I picked to be my maid of honor has been being weird with me and I really don't feel that I am close to anyone to have that honor, so I was wondering if that would be weird if I didn't have a maid of honor or should I choose my little sister who is 12 years old. The problem is my fiance is 31 and the guy he wants to be his best man is 30. So I really can't have my sister be the maid of honor.....Just so confused!!

Would it be dumb to not have a maid of honor?
you can absolutely have either.

all that is REQUIRED is that 2 people witness your vows.

They don't have to be members of the bridal party. Just two people over the age of 18.

I think it would be very sweet to ask your sister, and just have another adult step in to witness the vows with her and sign the document.

Just maybe try working it out with your friend first. You never know what is going on in her head.
Reply:You don't have to have a maid or matron of honor. Just have one of your bridesmaids handle the train on your dress, etc. No biggie.
Reply:Its your wedding and you can do what you want, the best man is just for a dance so there is nothing wrong with your little sister dancing.........when my niece and her husband where married he had his sister be his "best man" because that was who he wanted....do what works for you. Before you make any decisions....... Is your maid of honor just upset? Can she not afford the gown? Does she think you are turning into bridezilla? See if you can talk to her before you give her the boot.........you must have picked her for a reason.
Reply:you the boss,i got married in levis at court house for $88 what ever floats your boat man
Reply:It's your big day. It would seem odd if you didn't have a maid of honor. the only way that would work if your hubby to be didn't have a best man. At 12 she could be your maid of honor i seen it b4.
Reply:Do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and get hitched in Vegas. Then you don't have to worry about all the formalities and you'll save a ton of cash! Trust me, the pictures and the memories aren't worth the $ spent.
Reply:no, it would be fine just becuase it's ur wedding and im sure that would be perfectly fine

congrats!
Reply:it's your day and it only happens once so do what yoiu think it best... your friend is probably just jeolous and the 30 year old man would be able to be the big man to dance witha little girl it would get him points with the ladies so do what feels right and COngrats to yoiu
Reply:Do whatever you want to do - it's your wedding and whatever you choose to do is right.
Reply:You can use your sister despite the age difference...and if you are really worried about it, just have them walk down the aisle individually.

You should probably have a chat with the bridesmaid you want to kick out.
Reply:I'd have your little sister do it. that would be really nice, and I'm sure she'd treasure the memories.
Reply:Two things to remember about your wedding day. 1.) Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) in the audience cares about who's in your bridal party, and what colors anyone is wearing, and what flowers they're carrying. They care whether the food is good, whether there's enough to drink, and whether they think you and your groom make a good couple. So don't get too hung up on the rules of who to have in your party. 2.) Talk to your friend. Maybe she's jealous and doesn't know how to properly vent those feelings. Maybe she's worried because she can't afford all the stuff to be maid-of-honor. Don't lose a friend over wedding silliness. But also, don't have a so-so friend be your maid of honor just to satisfy the wedding etiquette rules. I think it's nice to have your sister. Trust me, your best man can find his own date somewhere else - it's not your job to supply him with a date. Good luck. Have fun on your wedding day!
Reply:you don't have to have a maid of honor! why be like everyone else. do what you do!!
Reply:no
Reply:It all depends on the couple,,,but it would nice if there would be a maid of honor cause usually maid of honor represent the closest friends that we have,a friend which will represent as a witness of your love to one another,,,,yet the most important part in a wedding is not having the maid of honor but your willingness to be husband and wife for hte rest of your life and become GODs servant
Reply:Nope its your wedding have what you want!
Reply:Well, both options would be fine, really. You do not need to have a maid of honor, or your sister would do fine as well. I went to a wedding this past summer and the best man was the 10 year old son of the groom! It was adorable.
Reply:I don't think it would be dumb. You could have anyone you would like. I have seen it where the bride had her mom as her maid/maitron of honor.
Reply:You need a maid of honor. It is necessary to have two witnesses to your marriage. I believe they need to be of a certain age, older than your sister. Just ask another of your friends or relatives; if none, does your fiance have a sister?
