I HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO STOP AND LOOK AT IT, BUT WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THEY ARE STREET LEGAL AND WHAT THE VALUE WOULD BE--APPROXIMATELY. WILL PROVIDE MORE DETAILS AS AVAILABLE. ALSO, ANYONE KNOW WHERE I MIGHT FIND MORE OF THESE. THEY'RE NEAT.
I recently saw what appeared to be an old "meter maid" vehicle for sale. Are they street legal? Gas or elec?$
yes they are legal at least in missori my uncle goes to auto austions and they have them there that would have to pass a state insp. if there was one. the on my uncle bought had a motor out of a ford festiva it was a three wheeler version. when all else fails check with local staes regulations. the one my uncle got was about a '95 model and it was less than $1000. its kinda like when people make homemade three wheelers they have to got to the DOT and have them passed for operating on roadways there might be some minor changes that need to be done but most likely not because law inforcement have to follow DOT regulations.
Reply:You can probably register it for the street. The cops did. They're generally gas powered and very slow. They're also kind of tippy. In Avalon, on Catalina Island, there's a buttload of them because you can't drive fast at all there and there's no room for big cars. Check scooter magazines for information on them. They're forever doing stories on them. Scoot! magazine comes to mind.
