Can somebody tell me what old time milk maids wore?

My daughter wants to dress as an authentic milk maid for halloween. She has already picked out a cow costume for my hubby and a glass milk bottle for me. I am not able to find pics of one anywhere.

Can somebody tell me what old time milk maids wore?
The traditional image of the "Milk Maid" probably consists of a full length apron or pinaphore worn over a vintage style dress, a white mop cap, stockings and black loafer type shoes, maybe with a buckle. If you don't mind doing some searching or sewing, you can get more authentic with a pinner apron (a full length apron that pins to the bodice of the dress instead of using shoulder straps), or a laced up bodice and a white chemise and a white lapet cap. Hope this helps. I'm sure it'll be a cute costume! =)
Reply:That is what I would say- an old dress, a white apron, with white socks/stockings, black shoes, braided pig tails and some sort of white handkerchief hat.
Reply:An apron over an old time dress.
