Do you think it is odd for a 19 year old to have never had a boyfriend?

My dad's friends used to think I was going to end up an old maid. Or they would always tell my I was pretty because they thought I had low self esteem. I had never brought a guy home to meet my family until I was 21.





I had boyfriends, I just never brought a guy home. So as far as my dad knew, I had never had a boyfriend. I would get offended when his friends would ask me, "how come you don't have a boyfriend?" As if the world revolved around man. Please.





If I came across a 19 year old female who never had a boyfriend, I would think she is very strong. She doesn't need a man to make her happy. She is out pursueing something in life.





So what would you think of a 19 year old female who never had a boyfriend?

Perhaps she feels her life is complete (at this stage) with education, friends, family, recreation, possibly work, hobbies, religious, social, volunteer, %26amp; sport activities. There is a whole world of interest if you are motivated to pursue things on your own. The best possible partner one can be for another is one who is total in themselves BEFORE they meet up with their so-called other-half. Then they don't fall into the "co-dependent" roles. The complete person is more confident (thus more attractive) and has more to offer their future partner. Considering these factors, a 19 year old female who never had a boyfriend sounds like a young woman with high priorities for her future.

even though i'd say 1/3 of the girls in my year at school haven't had a boyfriend, and at least i've kissed guys.





19 however is 3 more years. it depends if she's taken the active decision not to get into a relationship, or if she's never been asked out.





i think it is strange, its a major part of being a teenager missing. but i'm sure i'll be just the same as her. get back to me in august 2010 =]
Reply:That she's smarter than most girls her age! That she's focused on herself (in a good positive way, not an I'm-the-center-of-the-universe sort of way). She's probably intelligent, and values education and her freedom. She's probably smart enough to see through all the BS men feed women just to get in their pants. If you were my daughter, I'd be damn proud of you!

Reply:I strongly agree. Not having a boyfriend at 19 is totally normal and right. But with todays world, you've got like 11 year olds getting pregnant and stuff. People look at a 19 year old who doesn't have a boyfriend and throw them down. This is why we have girls with eating disorders and depression and just all of these different things simply because they are so worried about impressing the rest of the world. This is not fair. If you want to be the stupid pregnant high school cheerleader, then have at it. But you obviously don't have any morals or self respect. In fact, you probably don't have any respect at all.


Sorry, but this is a topic that really gets to me. Girls all over the world are falling apart and doing crazy stupid things [even as crazy as suicide] just because we have a judgmental world. And it's hard to escape it. I can relate.


And boys aren't worth it. Most of them just break your heart anyway.





MESSAGE TO THE GIRLS: Don't be so desperate to have a boyfriend. Wait until the right guy comes along. When he's right, you'll know it. Wait until you have a good guy that respects you. It'll be worth the wait in the end.

i have a friend who will be 18 this month who has never had a bf and she is a great person, and shes pretty, she just knows she hasn't met the person she wants to pursue yet.
Reply:it happens I don't see it as being strong or weak its just that she's not found the right guy (or girl) yet when she's ready she'll be fine.
