Is the maid of the mist at niagara falls scary for 9 yrs. old children?

I would say no. Just recently I took a 6 year old and a 3 year old. They enjoyed it immensely. They really liked getting their little blue ponchos on, but you have to be careful not to trip on the plastic when you walk. You will also have to be cautious near the railing but on the whole it is very safe and very exciting. It is one of those experiences that really fits the word "awesome".

I don't think so. I went when I was young. If your child is afraid of water (ex. the ocean) then explain it to him/her ahead of time, show pictures, discuss articles so they are prepared and know what to expect. Do take an extra set of clothes. Also, you may want to "inside" the falls...not quite sure if they still do this or not.

Have fun!
Reply:dunno, could be, if its like a really really huge place above the water, maybe, matters if ur kid is scared of heights and/or water
Reply:No, it's beautiful ride into the falls. The boat can get a little rocky so if the kids get sea sick then maybe you should skip it. Otherwise, I think kids will love it. At one point you feel surrounded by the falls but it is very beautiful not threatening at all. I think you can even stay inside the boat if you don't want to get wet but they give you raincoats to wear.
Reply:Nah, just explain what will happen. Let him/her see the boat from above on the observation decks beforehand. The ride itself is boncey, but I did it just fine at age 11.
