Well, Ingrid, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I only regret that it has taken this long for us to introduce ourselves. Here we have been study le belle histoire del monde, we study in the same place, take the same courses, and we have never introduced ourselves. So, where are you from Ingrid?


I’m from Johnson County.

I am from Olathe. You know, it is all a suburb of KC.

I heard that people say they are from Johnson County to mislead us dumb country people. I hear in Johnson county they have Emerald Castles and geese that lay golden eggs.


Oh, stop it. I came from a nice neighborhood. It used to be nicer; at least that’s how I remember it.


I know what you mean. Of course, it was kind of the opposite for me. I used to dislike my little hometown, and I did not think much of my parents’ house. I thought they were all common place. In my old age, I have come to realize that it was one of the most beautiful, tranquil places on this earth. My parents’ house was extraordinary compared to most, but it took me years to realize it.


Hah. Your old age? How old are we now again?

Well, we did graduate in the same year!


Hah! The prosecution rests. For awhile I forgot my age. I couldn’t tell 22 from 25. I am 26 now. How about you?


I just turned 26. I am starting to get stressed out about it.


Really? You don’t seem stressed. Why would you be stressed?


Well, you know. Soon I will be the ‘old maid’.


You don’t look old. You still look like that beautiful girl I remember from class. I would consider you more of a lady than a maid anyway. So think of it this way, ‘soon I will be an older lady’. Well, I’m not sure that is much better, but I understand how you feel. Guys don’t have it that easy either. Look at me, single at 26, and I haven’t had a date in years, perhaps my life.


It is nice knowing that there is someone out there in a similar situation. You know you’re really a nice guy.

So, back to graduation. Why didn’t you come?


Well, I’m not sure really. You know us history types with our multiple cause existential answers.


What were some of the reasons? Were you trying to be a bad-boy or what?


Wow, okay, so you want an answer? I think I planned on there being another graduation in my future. You know another degree, graduate school or professional school, but it is hard to decide. I don’t really like begging for the money either. I know it’s not begging really, but it is hard to expect and accept gifts like that form your parents. I don’t think I fit in well amongst my peers anyway. I knew quite a few, but you know… It was a lot like my high school graduation. I bet your high school graduation was larger. I was not sure who I would be sitting by, and I pictured the only history majors being me and crazy John. Don’t get me wrong, but I like crazy John and all, but I am not sure about parading us around. You know, all of the formalities and regalia all for the completion of four years of expensive education.


Crazy John was there. I liked crazy John too. He was a little weird, I guess you could say awkward, but I knew he was smart, and I always knew I would see him in the library. I saw you quite a bit too, but you never seemed to notice me. Anyway, the history department had more than a row of graduates. It was pretty amazing that a liberal arts department would have that many graduates. The funny thing was that none of us received honors. I thought Kate would or John or you.


Well, you know the saying, ‘All men are created equal.’ I don’t think there is much since making distinctions between us since we all came to the same result.


I think I became a history major because of you. I don’t really know what I was thinking. I wanted to be a nurse or a scientist or psychologist, but something led me back to history.

Well, with nurses as cute as you in those little outfits, health insurance companies would be going bankrupt left and right. Guys would have been finding ways to put themselves in the hospital for extended periods.

Would you want your 16 year old girlfriend getting drunk around other guys?

My girlfriend and I have been together for 2 and a half years. Im a year and a half older than her. I just turned 18 and shes 16. Im in KY right now %26amp; shes in MO. i wont see her again till thanksgiving. she was telling me about a party that she wants to go to thats a dress-up party. I asked who was having it and it was someone i didnt know so I asked her if there would be alchohol there and she said yes. I asked her to promise me that she wouldnt drink and she said no, that she wanted to. I have a problem with this bc 1. shes underage 2. she promised me before she wouldnt drink untill she was 21. 3. I dont want my gf getting drunk at a party that i cant be at with a lot of other guys around. Then she said that she was wearing a maid outfit that she showed me a pic of and it looks slutty (her butt will practically show) I asked her to wear somethign under the bottom part so it wouldnt look slutty and she got mad so i dropped that . But i told her that if she didnt promise me she wouldnt drink or get drunk id talk to her mom about her going to the party that has alchohol and no adult supervision. She then said "ill do what i want. were over" and this seemed totally unlike her. was what i did wrong? i just wanted her to be safe n out of trouble.

She's not worth her time. You showed that you really cared about her and yet she doesn't quite see that. She should learn drinking at such an early age can seem fun, but it just ruins your body and your life. She should think through it more.





I do suggest you tell her parents. She said you guys 'were over' so if she can do whatever she want, you surely can do whatever you want that's legal of course. If she gets mad at you, oh well. Just because she's 16 doesn't mean she's old enough to actually take care of herself and think she can do what she wants. I don't know the details from the relationship so i'm just basing this all on what you typed.





Just my opinion. Sorry for voicing so much. Haha. I just hate it when people act like that.

I need the name of an old movie - the plot - a family goes to live in a glass house in the forest?

Family = parents and 2 or 3 kids and the forest is infested by lions and there are pygmies or tribals also living in the forest.....the lions terrorise the family and the pygmies alike. Once, when the kids are playing and the ball goes out of the house, their maid tries to retrieve it but she is also eaten by the lions. In the end, a family friend comes to visit them in a car and the lions eat him too and as the lions start breaking into the house, the family builds a wooden cage and leave the house and get into the car (family friend's car) and escape to the city. I dont even remember if it is english or french or which language. I saw it around 1980, it can be older than that....

I spent about a good 30 minutes scouring IMDB and Google trying to combine every possible keyword in your question and going from 1983 backards. I was completely unable to find anything that matched all of the terms or even similar terms to the ones you listed. While there were a ton of movies and TV shows that popped up that were similar, nothing stood out as exactly what you're looking for.





What I might suggest to you or the next person who wants to take a stab at this question is to try and search through some plot summaries of the old Twilight Zone episodes.

I feel sorry for my older sister. Is that terrible of me? Or is it ok to?

She's 38. She just moved to a new state and lives in a big house alone. Since she's new to the area, she doesn't know many people. She's in social work and doesn't make much money. She's alone every night of the week. Last time I visited, I heard her talking to herself. I think she's becoming bitter old maid. I feel sorry for her but is that wrong of me? I can't help it.

Quit feeling sorry for her and encourage her to get out and do something! Maybe she could join a church, hobby group, volunteer etc. My friend Jackie wrote a profile for her mom on a dating site and paid for it, she annoyed her mother so much about about, her mom gave in and had a few dates, but if your sister is bitter, that may be hard. Have you thought about sending her something that may help fill the hours, pay for a dvd service, get her hooked up with video on her computer so you can chat each night face to face and have a set time to do it, pay for a gym membership.

Can I pick somone else to be my witness at my wedding instead of my maid of honor?

I am getting married next year. My maid of honer is my sister. I didn't want her to be my maid of honor but she threw a hissy fit because I didn't pick her originally. I picked my best friend first but my sis got upset so I picked her.I luv my sisters kids to death. So I picked the older two to be the flower girls %26amp; they are counting the days to my wedding. Last week I found out from my sis that she does not like my fiance one bit. When I my fiance %26amp; I were having issues in the past I confided in her. My fiance confided in his family too. His best friend who is his best man was against our relationship so was my sister. Now my sis %26amp; his best friend are the best man %26amp; the maid of honor. I don't want my sis to be a witness at my wedding so I chose my fiances uncle %26amp; my fiance wants his father to be the other witness. But my mom says usually the parents or the siblings don't be a witness. Is that true? Because I don't want my sis or his best friend to be a witness. I am catholic.

sweet heart this is YOUR wedding you let your sis. throw a hissy fit and pick whom U want as your maid of honor and as your witness. don't let the tantrum trap you, you will regret it forever. think about it. what right does she have being your maid of honor (is she standing beside you?, happy for you? NO) I say go with the best friend and if you can't then yes pick best bud as witness. And if I were you I would make up a new title for my b-friend "Lady in Waiting" and have her come out right after you. That way your sis is still the maid of honor but only on paper. And you get to enjoy your wedding because it is Your day.

Reply:You poor thing! Your sister should be ashamed of herself. My sister and I are very close, but I chose to have my best friend be my maid of honor and my sister was a brides maid. She never said a word about it if she was upset by this. It is not to late to change your plans and have your wedding day be what you and your fiance' want it to be! As far as the witnessing goes, do what YOU want. If it is a problem with the preist/church then they will inform you, but I don't know why it would be. It is your day! Don't be bullied or pressured my insensitve family members.
